You Are on the Weapons and Warfare Technology Page October 13, 2001

"The blending of biology and technology is happening now as we speak. We cannot tell you the future, for you have not written it yet."

"Embrace the blending of the technology and biology for it is a part of you. Do not doubt yourselves any longer. You are not a part of God, you are the whole of God."

~The Group

Our society has created many technologies which improve the quality of life. We have also devoted much time and energy to the development of destructive technologies.

In light of the recent developments in the United States with regard to terrorism, and a new-found emphasis on military action, the following is aI will present a series of links and websites which have information relevant to weapons and warfare technologies.

General Links

  • Defense Link - US Dept. of Defense Official Website; searchable, many links to other sites
  • Federation of American Scientiests: Special Weapons Primer - Weapons of mass destruction technologies: introductory material and links on nuclear, biological, chemical, ballistic missiles, cruise missiles , aircraft, and command and control technologies. Has link to Office of Technology Assessments paper entitled: "Technologies Underlying Weapons of Mass Destruction"
  • History of Military Technology and Weapons - covers armor, catapaults, military communications, transportation, missiles, nuclear weapons, small arms, swords and tanks - Department of National Defense (Canada)
  • Deputy Under Secretary of Defense Science & Technology Website - Defense technologies, research, modeling and simulations, weapons, infomration systems, international plans and programs. "The DUSD (S&T) is responsible for Defense Science and Technology strategic planning, budget allocation, and program execution and evaluation. Additionally, the DUSD (S&T) ensures that the National Defense objectives are met by the $9 billion per year DoD Science and Technology Program. The DUSD(S&T) is responsible for oversight of all Federally Funded Research and Development Centers and also coordinates NATO and other international science and technology collaborative efforts."
  • Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency - "DAPRA is the central research and development organization for the Department of Defense (DOD). It manages and directs selected basic and applied research and development projects for DOD, and pursues research and technology where risk and payoff are both very high and where success may provide dramatic advances for traditional militay roles and missions"
  • Weapons Systems Technology Informatin Analysis Center- "WSTIAC provides the DoD and user communities with timely and authoritative information on key R&D concepts, results, and trends; applications and processes; and assessment of international R&D technology. WSTIAC monitors and extracts related information, including but not limited to, the science, technology, and acquisition of conventional and directed energy weapon systems technology and related guidance, intelligence gathering systems, training, analyses, databases, model repositories, laboratory studies, testing, hardware, components, systems, and subsystems. The systems and subsystems include, but are not limited to, aircraft, ships, satellites, guns, ordnance, missiles, rockets, bombs, submunitions, projectiles, mines/ countermines, munitions-dispersing canisters, lasers and high power microwaves, intelligence gathering systems, guidance and control, command guidance communications links and undersea weapons."
  • Office of Naval Research - many links- ONR's stated mission is "to maintain a close relationship with the research and development community to suppor long-range research, foster discovery, nurture future generations of researchers, produce new technologies that meet known naval requirements, and provide order-of-magnitude innovations in fields relevant to the future Navy and Marine Corps."
  • BMDO-Link - Ballistic Missile Defence Organization
  • International Science & Technology Center - promotes the nonproliferation of weapons technology of mass destruction
  • Center for the Study of Technology and Society - National Security
